Pinkishe Foundation recently organized four menstrual hygiene literacy session and reusable pad distribution drive at Government Girls Inter College Garjoli Kafulta, Nainital, Uttarakhand, led by Upasana Tulera. The session focused on educating girls about the importance of maintaining menstrual hygiene through the use of clean, absorbent, and safe menstrual products, as well as emphasizing the necessity of regular changing of sanitary products.
During the session, girls were encouraged to ask questions, fostering an open dialogue about menstrual health and hygiene. This approach helps to dispel myths and misconceptions surrounding menstruation while empowering girls with accurate information.
Towards the conclusion of the event, reusable pads were distributed to ensure that all attendees had access to necessary hygiene products. Reusable pads offer several advantages, including being more cost-effective and environmentally friendly compared to disposable alternatives. By providing reusable pads, the initiative aimed to alleviate the financial burden on women who may struggle to afford menstrual hygiene products regularly.
Overall, the event not only provided essential menstrual hygiene education but also ensured that girls had access to sustainable and affordable menstrual hygiene products, promoting their health, dignity, and well-being.

This month, we highlight the inspiring journey of Shakuntala Devi, a mother of two from Mandawali, Delhi, whose life has been marked by struggle and resilience. With her children, aged 12 and 7, attending a local government school, Shakuntala Devi faced immense challenges in covering basic needs such as food, rent, and educational expenses. Her husband, a day labourer, spent his meager earnings on alcohol, leaving Shakuntala Devi solely responsible for her family's welfare.
This was organized by Maharaja Agrasen Institute of Technology (MAIT) with the support of Pinkishe Foundation at Kanhaiya Nagar Slum on 1st September, 2024. The event, which hoped to provide knowledge on menstrual health and hygiene while creating awareness and access around feminine hygiene.

A total of 27 beneficiaries, aged 12-13 years, participated in this impactful session.
