Breaking Taboos Through Poetry: 'Lal Rang Zindagi Ka' Event by Pinkishe Foundation

On 1st December 2024, Pinkishe Foundation hosted a powerful and thought-provoking poetry conference titled "Lal Rang Zindagi Ka" under its 'Swara Manch' initiative at Hindi Bhavan, Delhi. The event was designed to raise awareness about menstrual health and educate the public about the challenges women face during menstruation. This unique gathering brought together a diverse group of poets, social activists, and advocates to discuss and address the societal taboos surrounding menstruation.

A Platform for Awareness Through Poetry

The event kicked off with the lighting of lamps and the worship of Maa Sharda, followed by an insightful introduction by Swara's director, Shraddha Pandey, who elaborated on the mission of Pinkishe Foundation. With the goal of removing the stigma surrounding menstruation, about 20 distinguished poets recited their powerful works, raising important issues related to menstrual health and hygiene.

Message of Empowerment: A Dance and Poetry Fusion

The evening saw an impactful performance by Ms. Rashika Bhasin, who used Manohari Kathak dance to convey the message of breaking menstrual taboos. The chief guest, Suman Keshari ji, expressed how moved they were by the poem recitations on such a crucial topic and commended the poets for their captivating work. Special guests Dr. Alpana Suhasini and Dr. Manju Mann also joined in by reciting their poems, highlighting the importance of programs like this in breaking down barriers related to menstruation.

Recognition of Excellence: Honoring Poets and Volunteers

Throughout the evening, Pinkishe Foundation's General Secretary, Mrs. Shalini Gupta, and Treasurer, Mrs. Vandana Gupta, applauded the efforts of the Swara team for organizing this impactful event. They honored the poets and volunteers with trophies and Pink Organ clothing as a token of appreciation for their contributions to the cause. Iconic poets such as Kamla Singh Zeenat, Tulika Seth, Sarita Gupta, Puneeta Singh, Aruna Rajput, Meena Singh ‘Meen’, Dr. Varsha Singh, Anu Singh, Sunita Rajiv, Kusum Lata Kusum, Meenakshi Bhasin, and many more graced the stage with their brilliant works, which left a lasting impact on all attendees.

Call to Action: Bringing Awareness Through Literature

In the closing remarks, Swara’s Director, Mrs. Shraddha Pandey, urged everyone to actively engage in this campaign to spread awareness about menstrual health through literature and poetry. The event concluded with Associate Director Mrs. Indu Mishra Kiran ji beautifully conducting the platform and Associate Director Taruna Pundeer offering heartfelt thanks to all the participants and attendees.
