Kaagaz ke Pad, a Pinkishe Pune initiative, uses newspaper donations to fund menstrual products for low-income women, combating period poverty and promoting health and gender equality

This month, we highlight Shakuntala Devi from Mandawali, Delhi, a mother of two who has faced immense struggles. With her husband’s earnings spent on alcohol, she alone supports her children’s basic needs and education.

This was organized by Maharaja Agrasen Institute of Technology (MAIT) with the support of Pinkishe Foundation at Kanhaiya Nagar Slum on 1st September, 2024. The event, which hoped to provide knowledge on menstrual health and hygiene while creating awareness and access around feminine hygiene.

On August 24, 2024, a Menstrual Health and Hygiene Literacy Session was held at the Government Girls Inter College in Kathgodam, Haldwani, District Nainital, Uttarakhand. Organized by Upasana, the event aimed to educate young girls about the biological aspects of menstruation and provide them with essential menstrual hygiene products. A total of 27 beneficiaries, aged 12-13 years, participated in this impactful session.

This event aimed to educate 30 young girls from age 14-15 years about effective menstrual management and address related stigmas.
