Event Highlights

The girls were introduced to various menstrual hygiene products, such as tampons and menstrual cups, which were completely new to them. Coming from a community with rigid menstrual customs, they were both shocked and intrigued. The interactive session highlighted the benefits of alternative menstrual products, including reusable sanitary pads, and explained their importance in ensuring women’s well-being. This newfound knowledge about menstrual hygiene management allowed the girls to explore better options for managing their periods while promoting environmental sustainability.

Breaking Myths, Building Confidence

The workshop also focused on debunking common myths around menstruation. Many of the girls had been taught to follow restrictive customs during their periods, which often left them feeling ashamed. Garima provided evidence-based information about the menstrual cycle and encouraged the participants to view menstruation as a natural, healthy process rather than something to hide. The session sparked lively discussions, helping the girls feel more confident and secure in their understanding of women’s health.

Impact on the Communit

This workshop had a far-reaching impact, both for the participants and the broader community. By distributing sanitary pads and other essential feminine hygiene products, the event addressed period poverty while advancing gender equality. Additionally, the workshop supported community health by fostering open conversations about menstruation and encouraging young girls to take charge of their health and well-being. Beyond the tangible resources, it helped instil a sense of empowerment, with the girls walking away feeling informed and supported.
