On July 27, 2024, Government High School in Badripura, Haldwani, Nainital, Uttarakhand, hosted a crucial event focused on Menstrual Health and Hygiene Education. Organized by Upasana Tulera, this camp aimed to enhance Menstrual Hygiene by reaching out to 30 girls from the community.
We have frequently noticed that at this age, girls experience a mix of curiosity, confusion, and fear surrounding menstruation. To alleviate these worries and help them feel more at ease with this natural biological process, we recognized the need to offer them a basic understanding and support regarding menstruation.
The camp aimed to address significant challenges related to Period Poverty and enhance Community Health by providing essential Menstrual Products. This included the distribution of Sanitary Pads to ensure that every girl had access to the necessary item for maintaining proper Feminine Hygiene. By offering this product, the camp sought to eliminate barriers that prevent girls from managing their menstrual health effectively.
Additionally, the event focused on bridging gaps in Health Education concerning menstruation. Many girls in the community face a lack of information and resources, which can lead to misunderstandings and difficulties in managing their menstrual cycles. The camp aimed to address these gaps by promoting Menstrual Hygiene Management and offering comprehensive support. This included educating the participants about the menstrual cycle, the importance of maintaining hygiene, and the proper use of menstrual products.
During the camp, our menstrual educator led comprehensive session on Menstrual Health Education. The girls were taught about the basics of the Menstrual Cycle, the importance of maintaining hygiene during menstruation, and how to properly use Sanitary Pads and other Menstrual Hygiene Products. The sessions provided crucial information on Menstrual Education, equipping the girls with practical skills for effective menstrual health management.
The educator encouraged the girls to ask questions openly and without hesitation, creating a supportive environment for discussion. She addressed all queries with clarity, ensuring that the girls felt comfortable and informed about their bodies. This approach not only enhanced their understanding of Feminine Care but also empowered them to manage their menstrual health confidently.
Upasana Tulera’s initiative made a substantial difference in Social Welfare and Community Outreach. Through the distribution of Sanitary Pads and active Health Advocacy, the camp effectively tackled the pressing issue of Menstrual Health within the community. This effort highlighted the critical role of Menstrual Health Education in equipping young girls with essential knowledge and resources to enhance their overall well-being.
The event established a more enlightened and supportive community by highlighting the critical role of Menstrual Health Education Programs. It aimed to create enduring change by addressing Period Poverty and encouraging a culture of understanding and advocacy for Menstrual Hygiene

This was organized by Maharaja Agrasen Institute of Technology (MAIT) with the support of Pinkishe Foundation at Kanhaiya Nagar Slum on 1st September, 2024. The event, which hoped to provide knowledge on menstrual health and hygiene while creating awareness and access around feminine hygiene.

On August 24, 2024, a Menstrual Health and Hygiene Literacy Session was held at the Government Girls Inter College in Kathgodam, Haldwani, District Nainital, Uttarakhand. Organized by Upasana, the event aimed to educate young girls about the biological aspects of menstruation and provide them with essential menstrual hygiene products. A total of 27 beneficiaries, aged 12-13 years, participated in this impactful session.
