Megha from Pinkishe Foundation leading a menstrual health education session, discussing the biological aspects of menstruation with girls.

Comprehensive Menstrual Hygiene Literacy and Reusable Pad Donation Camp

Learning and Awareness Session

The camp provided a thorough educational session on menstrual health. The following key topics were covered:
1. Understanding Menstruation: The girls were introduced to the basic concepts of menstruation, including the biological processes involved. The session aimed to demystify menstruation and reduce any stigma or embarrassment associated with it.
2. Menstrual Hygiene Practices: Detailed information was shared on maintaining hygiene during menstruation. This included proper cleaning methods, the importance of changing menstrual products regularly, and how to manage menstruation in different settings, such as school or during physical activities.
3. Product Options: The participants learned about various menstrual hygiene products, including disposable pads, tampons, and reusable pads. The benefits and proper use of each type were discussed to help the girls make informed choices based on their needs and preferences.
4. Health and Comfort: The camp emphasized the importance of using comfortable and safe products to avoid potential health issues. The girls were educated on how to recognize signs of infections and the importance of consulting a healthcare provider if needed.
5. Breaking Taboos: A crucial part of the session was dedicated to addressing and breaking the taboos and myths surrounding menstruation. Open discussions were encouraged to foster a supportive environment where the girls felt comfortable asking questions and sharing their experiences.

Reusable Pads Donation

In addition to the menstrual education session, the camp featured a donation of reusable pads, with a total of 15 kits distributed to the attendees. The importance of these reusable pads was underscored through several key benefits. Environmentally, reusable pads significantly reduce menstrual waste by lessening the dependence on disposable products, thereby contributing to a cleaner and more sustainable planet.  From a health perspective, the reusable pads are crafted from natural, breathable materials, which help minimize skin irritation and discomfort. Additionally, the distribution of these pads was paired with a comprehensive discussion on their proper use and care, empowering the girls with the knowledge to confidently manage their menstrual health while supporting environmental sustainability.

Through this well-rounded approach, Megha  not only equipped the girls with practical menstrual hygiene products but also provided them with valuable education and support. This initiative represented a significant step towards improving menstrual health literacy and access in the community.
