This event aimed to nurture a force of menstrual educators who are dedicated to empowering school girls with essential knowledge and promoting women’s health through comprehensive menstrual education.

Event Purpose:

The Menstrual Health Education Training was designed to address critical knowledge gaps in menstrual hygiene and women's health management. The program focused on a wide range of topics, including menstrual cycle education, feminine hygiene, and the use of sanitary pads and reusable sanitary pads. Participants were educated on vital physiological information, such as understanding the menstrual cycle and the importance of proper hygiene practices. A key component of the training was to dispel common myths about feminine care, such as the misconception that frequent use of intimate washes is necessary for good hygiene. The workshop also tackled cultural taboos surrounding menstruation, providing practical strategies to overcome these barriers and promote period awareness. Through this initiative, participants were equipped with the tools needed to lead their own educational workshops, fostering community health and empowering other women and girls.

Interactive Sessions:

The training incorporated interactive sessions to enhance engagement and learning. These sessions allowed participants to actively engage with the material, ask questions, and find practical solutions to common menstrual health issues. Activities were designed to promote community outreach and health advocacy, ensuring that attendees not only gained theoretical knowledge but also developed practical skills for disseminating menstrual health education within their communities. This hands-on approach emphasized health empowerment and supported women's education initiatives, contributing to broader social impact goals such as gender equality and women’s rights.

Conclusion:

The Menstrual Health Education Training under the Sakhi program was a significant step towards advancing menstrual health awareness and women’s empowerment. By filling critical knowledge gaps and addressing cultural taboos, the training prepared participants to become informed advocates and educators within their communities. This initiative not only promoted women's well-being but also supported broader social welfare and health advocacy efforts. Through community health initiatives like these, Sakhi continues to strengthen its mission of nurturing a network of menstrual health educators dedicated to promoting women's health, hygiene education, and gender equality. The program contributed to reducing period poverty and fostering a supportive environment for menstrual education, making a lasting social impact on community health and women’s empowerment.
