A year of sanitary pads, education and support for 50 women and girls in the bastis of East Delhi.
A volunteer group that has worked with families in the bastis of East Delhi since 2015 wrote to us in October. Every Sunday its volunteers serve hot food to children near Karkardooma Court, and they also run education and hygiene drives.
They told us that for many families here, a packet of pads every month is still hard to afford, and the need comes back every month. They have given out pads before, but they have no regular source, so the women and girls they know cannot count on one.
The volunteers have offered to introduce our team to the communities and to help us reach women and girls with privacy and dignity.
